Thanks to cooperation with LUXON LED, an excellent product was created – Smartpole Crossing, an active and safe pedestrian crossing system. For several years, we have been jointly implementing pedestrian crossing illumination projects, including those carried out as part of the Government Road Safety Support Programme and initiatives aimed at illuminating hazardous locations.
How does an intelligent pedestrian crossing connected to the Internet of Things work, and what benefits does it provide? At such a crossing, motion sensors detect pedestrians from a distance of several metres and immediately activate visual and audible warning signals.
In addition, a special lighting system ensures that pedestrians are more visible to drivers, while sound signals warn less attentive pedestrians that they are approaching the crossing. All of this makes an intelligent pedestrian crossing significantly safer than a standard one.
The Smartpole Crossing active pedestrian crossing system received an award in the Silesian Innovator 2020 competition.
